Coaching
What and Where
After more than 20 years of experience in performing on stage and training groups, it was the natural progression of my work that I start coaching performers one-on-one. It started because of a need many of the participants of my group workshops had and soon expanded to various performers looking to maintain and improve their performance skills. These sessions can happen in person - when and if I’m in your city - or through video conferencing.
Who and How
Currently, I coach actors, storytellers, improvisers, stand-up comedians, and various other performance professionals. I also improv and storytelling (narratives) to coach other professionals looking to improve their soft skills. Read more about my coaching methodology here, but in the meantime, here’s what the amazing people I coach or have coached in the past think about our work.
Raffi is my trusted coach, specifically in the realm of stand-up comedy. His invaluable guidance encompasses every aspect of my performance, from crafting my unique persona to engaging with the audience, capitalizing on failures, and embracing the transformative power of the "yes... and" theory. His contributions to my writing, whether for my TV or stand-up comedy shows, are magical. This collaboration was truly life-changing, with each session imbued with an electric energy that compels me to seek Raffi's expertise beyond the realm of stand-up.
John A. - Stand-up Comedian
“Working with Raffi is so much fun! I love his sense of humor, but also his very serious approach to cutting out the bullshit. During our coaching sessions, I always feel like I am talking to a friend who I can trust and be vulnarable with, but who also is not going to sugar coat any feedback, be very specific on what I need to work on and keep me accountable. He has a great personality paired with tons of experience and beautiful way of approaching the craft of storytelling.”
Emilya A. - Director Risk & Controls @ booking.com| Storyteller
“At first, I thought I did not need to work on my performance and how I act on stage. Then a fellow comedian suggested Raffi to me and I think it was one of the best decisions I took to start my coaching sessions with him. The amount of improvement we were able to achieve in the past year is enormous and I can’t wait for what’s coming.
N.B: He will not call you grasshopper right away, but after using Sensei for a while he will succumb and start using the gword.”
Ahmad S. - Stand-up Comedian
“I love working with Raffi. He's one of the few coaches who's both great at storytelling and improv - exactly what I was looking for to grow as a performer. Recommend big time.”
Philipp H. - Founder of Power of Storytelling
